Wanted Stars
How wanted stars and violent status show up after crimes.
What Stars Mean
When you commit a crime you get wanted stars on your HUD (up to five). Any crime gives you at least one star. Police will treat you as a suspect while stars are up.
You will also see feed lines like Crime committed or Violent crime committed with the crime name (for example Armed Robbery or Mail Theft).
How Stars Go Up and Down
Stars go up when you break the law. After you stop committing crimes, they cool off over time so you can get back to a clean state.
Stars drop faster when no police are nearby. Hide, leave the area, and wait for the stars to clear before walking around openly again.
Violent Status
Some actions mark you as violent. You will see alerts like Weapon brandished or Violent status, including a warning that cops may shoot.
A red arrow on the minimap means you are violent. When it clears you will see that you are no longer violent.
