Press E to speak with the desk officer. In the Police Department menu choose Switch to Police. Your first enlist runs the short police tutorial.

While on the job you can open the Armory from the desk menu, use police vehicles, and arrest suspects in the field. Use Leave job at a desk when you want to return to civilian life.

Officers cannot buy at Ammu-Nation (use the armory instead) and cannot join pacifism. Stick to department tools and lawful stops unless the situation turns violent.
